I have to wear an eclectic array of hats...
From August 21st of 1990 until September 23, 2006, I was one quarter of a CCM group/band known as "4Him", in which I was one of four vocalist, an acoustic guitarist, songwriter, and resident producer. Before this season in my life, I graduated with a Music degree from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., and was immediately thrown on the road for 3.5 years with an excessively itinerate group known as "Truth". It was out of this group that "4Him" was spawned.
Since October of '06, I've continued life as a producer, writer, artist, and every other "major label" role that I've had to grapple with on my own. Add the most important roles as husband of 14 years to stellar-babe-of-a-wife, Sheri; and father to perfect sons, Bishop (11) and Seth (10); and, you pretty much get the picture. I have a solo project that's been mastered for quite a while, but unexpected shifts in the music industry have thrown a few delay curves into its release date(s). It's all good --- tough, but good. The knowledge gained through it all has been priceless.
My official web site, martymagehee.com, will go live in a couple of weeks. Until then, I have a myspace site, myriteturn, that is available if anyone wants to preview some of my stuff. There is a possibility for a distribution deal coming around the pike soon, which will put my project (entitled OPEN) in the stores sometime in September '08. Before this campaign, it will definitely be available for digital download, as well as physical product fulfillment within the vacinity of my web site's launch. So, I've got a few irons in the fire.
This blog is an exciting outlet for me. It represents a release for volumes of prose that have been held at bay while only the whittled-down lyrics were allowed to surface. It also gives to anyone remotely interested a welcomed peek through my unique window into life issues, theology, philosphy, culture, and anything else that provokes a good healthy rant. This will truly be what my thumb rolls out after a deep, satisfying dip in the ink pad.
